Nike House of Innovation - Air Max DN8 Interactive Experiments
Knabe Labs supported BRDG Studios in bringing Nike’s Air Max DN8 story to life at Nike’s flagship House of Innovation store in New York City—a premier retail destination that redefines shopping as “retail theater.” In this immersive, digitally-powered environment serving hundreds of thousands of visitors, Knabe Labs designed and built the controls and mechanics for 4 of the 8 fully interactive experiments showcasing the DN8’s breakthrough pneumatic technology. Each station invited guests to physically engage with Nike’s innovation process, transforming the abstract concept of pneumatics into hands-on demonstrations that connected customers directly to the product’s core technology.
Our work focused on creating reliable, responsive interactive experiences that invited guests to play, test, and physically engage with the technology. Using dials, accelerometers, and interactive lighting integration, each station transformed abstract pneumatic concepts into hands-on demonstrations. The pneumatic controls responded directly to guest interaction, creating an immediate connection between user input and the physical demonstration of Nike’s DN8 innovation.
This retail installation showcases Knabe Labs’ expertise in interactive exhibit controls, pneumatic control systems, and sensor-based interactives for high-traffic commercial environments. By combining precision pneumatics with intuitive interactive controls, we created experiences that made complex technology accessible and engaging for Nike’s customers.
