David Guinn - Schuylkill Yards Interactive LED Installation
This interactive LED installation at Schuylkill Yards transforms a pixel-mapped mural by artist David Guinn into a responsive outdoor installation behind Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station. The wall technology was led by Remote Places, with Knabe Labs designing and integrating custom motion sensors that detect pedestrian movement and trigger dynamic LED patterns as people walk past the wall. The installation runs 24/7 in a high-traffic outdoor environment, demonstrating the durability and reliability required for permanent public art installations.
This Philadelphia installation showcases Knabe Labs’ expertise in sensor-based interactives, custom hardware integration, and outdoor LED installations. By combining motion tracking technology with creative programming, we created an experience that rewards both casual passersby and engaged participants—turning a static mural into living, responsive public art.
